Getting your horse ready for Winter

Spring and Summer has gone and so is the immunity to Rhino, Flu and Strangles. Now is the time to booster Rhino, Flu and Strangles especially if you are still showing or going to Rodeo’s. It is also time to de-worm your horses. In the cold country like Wyoming the water source needs to be checked that they are working properly and any electric source needs to be inspected for any shorts. Today an extreme cold front is moving into Cody and blankets need to be put on the horses. Remember now more than ever a salt block needs to be available to all horses. As the cold weather moves in hay needs to be increased by 10% to 20% to keep your horses warm. Winter time can be a fun time to ride we just need to make sure that those special needs of our horses are met.
