Equine Micro Nutrition can be broken down into Four main categories.

  1. Electrolytes
  2. Vitamins
  3. Trace Minerals
  4. Macro Minerals

Electrolytes are composed primarily of Sodium, Potassium and Chloride.

Electrolytes are Extremely necessary for life itself. They are necessary for impulses to travel in nerves, Body Fluid Balance, Muscle contraction including the heart muscles. A lack of adequate amounts of Electrolytes cause Fatigue and collapse, Tying Up Syndrome, irregular heart contraction and death in severe depletion.

Potassium in general is in adequate amounts in the hay. The exception to this is in extreme work outs and excessive sweating as the body looses Potassium as it sweats.

Sodium and Chloride are not in sufficient quantities in feed stuffs to meet the horses daily requirements.

Stamina Plus has done extensive research into the Electrolyte requirements of Horses and has adjusted its Equine Supplement Pellets, Blocks and Senior Supplement to adjust for the requirements of the Equine Athlete.
