Spring is here and at the Research Facility horses with lacerations are being brought in for treatment. The reason horses are brought to Stamina Plus is because of our success with faster healing of major lacerations.
Yesterday a horse was brought to us that had been caught up in an irrigation line and barb wire fence. There were multiple contusions on both back legs, a 12 inch laceration on the right shoulder and 4 lacerations on the face (each 2 to 3 inches long) with a 12 inch laceration from between the ears to next to the left eye.
These lacerations were cleaned, clipped washed and sutured. A drain was left on each of the large lacerations. A Tetnus vaccination was administered and injectable antibiotics were dispensed for the next four days and an antibiotic spray was dispensed for the contusions on the back legs. All very standard treatment.
Then a container of Stamina Plus Equine Flex Plus was dispensed to be fed daily at a rate of 1 ounce per day in with the grain. The addition of the Equine Flex has shown in the Research Facility to decrease healing time by 50% and decrease the chance of infection.
