Stamina Plus has just received back the results of testing this year hay. This testing is extremely important to adjust diets for horses and especially important in the Equine research facility.
This year’s grass/alfalfa hay has protein that varies from 10.8 % to 14.1 %. Calcium that varies from 0.91 % to 1.54 % and Phosphorus that varies from 0.18 % to 0.15 %.
The other problem that has been seen this year is nitrate toxicity in hay due to the lack of rain. You can also have your hay tested for Nitrate levels.
If you have any questions on how to feed your horse or on the quality of hay you are feeding, please comment on this blog.
