Spring Horse Vaccinations

Spring is around the corner and it is time to think about vaccinating your horses.

The exact vaccination program depends on where you live and you should consult with your Veterinarian on what is needed in your area.

Many vaccinations are available through farm stores and feed stores. I caution horse owners that these places of business may not know which are the safest vaccines and which are best for your area. Veterinarians see many horses through the year and can tell you which are the best vaccines. I have seen horses come in with vaccination reactions and also the wrong vaccines being given.

The bare minimum for vaccinations in my opinion are Tetnus, Sleeping Sickness, Rhino, Flu, West Nile and Strangles.
