Feeding Horses in Cold Weather

Feeding older horses can be a challenge for many reasons.  Reasons such as poor teeth, intestinal absorption of nutrients, time of year and weather. As horses get older they can have more problems absorbing nutrients.  It is important in these senior horses to increase protein if you are feeding grass hay and this can be accomplished by just adding one flake of alfalfa per day or timothy.  They also require more energy and may need extra oats or corn oil per day.  Finally to keep their intestines absorbing correctly they need more vitamins and trace minerals.  Stamina Plus Equine Supplement or Stamina Plus Immune Power Plus can correct these deficiencies to help keep weight on your horses and let them lead a healthy life into their 30’s.
